Today after school one of the families hosted a party for the new students. They live right next to the school and all of the teachers and students were there. We had a very nice lunch together, a mixture of Russian and American food. As part of the welcoming the other students gave us a small present and a poem. Here is the poem.
Dear new kids in town, a simple acrostic to make you feel welcome in your new home.
S is for the shine upon our nose
W is for the wringing of perspiration on our clothes
E is for the energy that’s zapped from us
A is for the attitude when we ride the crowded bus
T is for the temperature that’s unbelievably hot
R is for realizing we’ve gone from the kettle to the pot
A is for asking – How can it be true?
G is for the global warming of me and you
Put them all together and they spell: SWEAT RAG! Something you may be surprised you needed in Russia! Hope you can put it to good use. Welcome to Krasnodar!
As you may have guessed the small gift was a sweat rag. I was planning on buying one anyway so I definitely will put it to good use.
