A Measure of Friendship

In class today we had a discussion about some cultural differences in our friendships here. We have all had friends cancel on us without even a phone call. They just don't show up. Why would they do that? Well our teacher's thought was actually positive. She said that our friendships must be deep enough that our friends feel they can not show up or not be there and know that the friendship will still survive. She said Russians knwo when a "yes" actually means yes. That is a skill we have yet to learn. As least we can choose to look at the glass half full and say that our friendships have deepened.
